Along these lines, the more explicit you make your inquiries, the more productively you can investigat e your information, in view of what you are truly inspired by, as opposed to attempt to picture the same number of connections as possible.GraphDB likewise permits you to imagine remote information. There are two different ways to do that. The first is to utilize the remote areas. You run a GraphDB server facilitated elsewhere, and you can arrange remote areas and interface with them. The other choice is to utilize SPARQL that permits you not exclusively to question remote information yet additionally to do remote joins. Simply remember that, on the off chance that you attempt to do remote joins, the exhibition of the SPARQL inquiries might be affected. Now you perceive how GraphDB 8.3 and its new energizing visual diagram creation capacities places you in charge of what information you need to be questioned, marked and envisioned. The ability to make your own visual diagrams empowers you to investigate all your datasets and above all, the connections between your individual informat ion hubs. GraphDB, combined with SPARQL, gives you an inside and out perspective on your data. What's more, as you most likely are aware, the intensity of deduction and custom representation transforms your data into information and insights.Want to make custom diagram sees over your RDF information?

The Role Of Women In The Handmaids Tale - 1522 Words
Women in the past were perceived as insignificant because of the societyââ¬â¢s inability to embrace and acknowledge women as of equal importance as men and of those who are wealthy. In Margret Atwoodââ¬â¢s novel, The Handmaidââ¬â¢s Tale, the character by the name of Offred, is a handmaid and tells her perspective of the dystopian life in the community of Gilead. The women of 1985 serve the males and the rich if they are not a wealthy maiden themselves. However, regardless of class, women are always discerned as of lesser significance than men. This is manifested through Offredââ¬â¢s observation that although the women who are a Commanderââ¬â¢s wife are entitled of higher authority than the handmaids, they are still seen as insignificant. It has become a society norm that women are meant to serve housewives; to cook, clean, garden, and nurture children, even though they are much more capable of other things. The role of women is greatly overseen, as they are not perceived to be of their full potential, rather than as societies idealistic expectation. This is because men and those who are wealthy are unable to look past gender and accept women as of equal significance. Despite the little dependence on women, they are still objectified and subjected to injustice because of their gender, regardless if they were a female in general or as a poor female. As something as simple as what a person is born with affects the respect that is given to them. Margaret Atwood formulates Offredââ¬â¢s personality much like any other handmaid in the community. Offred becomes familiar with the functionality and role of women in the community, therefore she adjusts herself in order to be up to par with the unethical standard. ââ¬Å"I wait. I compose myself. (Oprah, as quoted by Kirkwood, 2005). Transformational leadership surfaces in the statement as testament that Oprah is able to recognize the root cause of her problem and rise above conventional wisdom that she has learned from her environment.à As a leader, she takes applies her wisdom and offers the knowledge from the lessons she has learned to help others. She develops a more general vision of womenââ¬â¢s predicaments and the resulting psychology, and makes her vision known to the public. She encourages people to give voice to their emotions when they get abused, ââ¬Å"You tell everybody until somebody listens to youâ⬠(Kirkwood, 2005).à In this way Oprah emerges as a leader who, through her success story, transforms the lives of many women. She continues showing viewers the path of success she had to travel from a gloomy and stressful beginning. Oprah Teaching Leadership One project in which Oprah directly commits to spreading knowledge of how to be a female leader is through her participation in, and founding of, the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls-South Africa.à The Academy founded in cooperation with Nelson Mandela, the South African Ministry of Education Professor Kader Asmal and Guateng MEC of Education Ignatius Jacobs, is to become the basis for womenââ¬â¢s leadership in South Africa à (Harpo Productions, Inc., 2006).à There girls can learn to make a contribution to their environment in order and take advantage of their inborn talents. With this project, Oprah makes a commitment to change the lives of girls, hoping to empower them with knowledge and skills they may otherwise have left undeveloped.à Students of the school take a stand against the male-dominated world saying that the biased social setup is to end soon and that women are ââ¬Å"prepared to share powerâ⬠(Harpo Productions, Inc., 2006). Oprahââ¬â¢s project intends to teach students how to share power effectively.à With this effort, she demonstrates the true transformational quality that is going to affect the lives of the girls in the remote parts of the world. The goal revolves around taking them out of their habitual roles and teaching them to add a new dimension to their lives.à Although the girls may not seen Oprah that often, they will undoubtedly be inspired by meetings with her. Having her for a role model, and continuously following her example will impressively affect their lives. Influencing the Lives of People Oprahââ¬â¢s reach goes far beyond the lives of a group of girls in South Africa.à Hosting an influential show in a nation as large as the United States, her words are heard by millions of viewers each day.à What sets her apart from other talk show hosts and makes her a transformational leader is that people do not just listen to her words for entertainment; they often take them as a guide to action, a powerful guide that motivates many good deeds. In her show in 1997, she ââ¬Å"encouraged viewers to use their lives to make a difference in the lives of others, which led to the creation of the public charity Oprahââ¬â¢s Angel Network in 1998â⬠(Harpo Productions, Inc., 2006).à So far the organization has been responsible for the collection of over $50 million that was utilized for the construction of shelters and homes. These structures now house women and youth all around the world.à Activities such as this have helped change the lives of many people who have been blessed with the charity funds. Perhaps even more important was Oprahââ¬â¢s influence on those who moved forward to help the cause when she appealed to the public.à People who otherwise did not give thought to charity as a way to help others now became active donors of the network, helping others reach their goals and improve quality of life.à This action represents a very good use of the TV show as a way to change peopleââ¬â¢s mentality for the better. Consequently, new horizons opened to them for moral development instead of just another television program entertaining them with stories. In fact, this is the main strength of Oprahââ¬â¢s show.à She likes to present her viewers with a story that is not merely entertaining but also has a deep moral message or presents a challenge.à The ensuing debate can become a trigger to many, spurring them to re-evaluate their opinions and reconsider views. In doing so, Oprah does not act as a boring moralizer; she presents herself as the same down-to-earth, sympathetic woman she was in her first days on TV.à Awards and financial success have not made her lose her head or become arrogant.à In fact, her spiritual closeness and understanding of the people she addresses in her show makes her message both powerful and penetrating.à Analyzing her leadership ability, one can say that she possesses superior communication skills that make her ideas appealing to a wide variety of people. Oprah takes every opportunity to reach the hearts and minds of people.à Thanks to her appeal to the audience, her productions in almost every environment soon become popular.à For example, her publication called Oprahââ¬â¢s Magazine currently is one of the most popular womenââ¬â¢s publications with an audience of 2.4 million readers a month (Harpo Productions, Inc., 2006). When she launched Oprah.com website on womenââ¬â¢s lifestyle, it also gained popularity. It now reports to average 64 million page views and more than three million users per month, plus receives approximately 12,000-15,000 emails each week. à She is also the creator of Dr. Phil syndicated show with Harpo Productions, Inc., co-founder of Oxygen Media cable television network, founder of Oprah and Friends radio channel on XM Satellite Radio, and producer of the musical Color Purple that was launched in 2005 in Broadway Theater in New York City (Harpo Productions, Inc., 2006). This broad variety of activities demonstrates Oprahââ¬â¢s multi-faceted talents and interest in affecting peopleââ¬â¢s lives in many different ways using various means available. Oprahââ¬â¢s Influence on My Personal Leadership Style I believe that Oprahââ¬â¢s impact was instrumental in helping me shape my personal leadership style.à Her ability to be appealing without appearing pompous and pretentious is something I try to imitate when developing my personal communication skills.à I think well developed presentation and communication skills are the key to successful leadership, and Oprah Winfrey is an excellent model of both.à Maintaining an unassuming and emotional style, she can address her audience on serious issues, and I think it would be excellent to learn this skill as well. My life was also affected by observing Oprah taking responsibility for other peopleââ¬â¢s destinies, as in the case of the academy she founded for South African girls.à I agree with her idea that when one sees thingââ¬â¢s being far from perfect, one should learn to say ââ¬Å"Noâ⬠and take some positive action to remedy it.à In this sense, I am trying to follow Oprahââ¬â¢s socially active position on things. At the same time, I also find her leadership attractive because she perceives people with her heart just as much as with her mind.à In my view, this is the most effective path to transformational leadership. It includes giving people emotional support and warmth and trying to help them become more secure emotionally.à Oprahââ¬â¢s kindness and caring attitude are among her strongest qualities as a leader, and these I would like to emulate. Oprah Winfrey is the kind of person who realized her potential in the face of adverse circumstances.à Her talent put her in public spotlight, making her a leader with power to transform the lives of millions.à She used her clout with the public very wisely and responsibly, inspiring many to reconsider their lives and empowering them to do good to other people.à This, in my opinion, makes her a truly transformational leader whose achievements are to be admired. Recognition of Aboriginal Law for Customary Law - myassignmenthelp
Question: Discuss about theRecognition of Aboriginal Law for Customary Law. Answer: The Aboriginal law of Australia is the customary law of Australia which is comprised of those customs which are being practiced by the Aboriginal societies of Australia for a very long time. These laws govern the human conduct and command punishments for its contravention. The Aboriginal law is different from the Australian law as the former governs all the aspects of the life of Aboriginal people while the common law system of Australia does not governs people on all the aspects of life for example their personal laws which cover marriage and divorce laws. The conflict between the two laws sometimes makes the people from the Aboriginal community to make a decision which results in contravention of either of the two laws.[1] However, gradually the laws of all Aboriginal communities have been altered such that in case of conflict between the two laws the common law of prevails. The Australian legal system identifies Aboriginal laws but does not gives them importance over the common law of Australia. Notwithstanding the recognition given to the existence of customary law in Australia, people of Indigenous community are restricted to argue the common law cases, due to a number of legal complications. Not much reliance is laid on Aboriginal law in Australian courts because the common law only recognizes its existence. The Aboriginal law is the tradition of Indigenous people of the Northern Territory and is an important source from which they derive their rights and duties.[2] The question of acknowledgment of the Aboriginal law is in debate in the Northern Territory since a very long time. In the Northern Territory, certain legislations and courts have mentioned customary laws where such law is expedient in recognizing relationships or societal expectations. In 1897 the Aboriginal Protection and Restriction of the Sale of Opium Act was enacted. The Act gave powers to the Minister to remove, detain and relocate the aboriginal people to reserves and gave permission the Minister to make additional guidelines to control the acts of the aboriginal people. Police was also given power to bestow retributive justice" to the people of Aboriginal community. The consequences of the enactment of this statute was that many people of Indigenous communities died while conflicting with the police. At this point the government thought that the Indigenous community was headed for disappearance, and announced measures to segregate the Indigenous community from the society at large. The government took charge for Indigenous people, compelling them to live on specially designated reserves for Aboriginal community. The policy of the government soon shifted from protection of Indigenous people to their integration into non-indigenous communities. The Indigenous communities are the original owner of the territory. The State is the stranger. International morality recommends a guest should respect the host. These communities have been exposed to racial discrimination all over the world, and even today they continue to be discriminated.[3] The principles of human rights require the State to respect the rights of traditional communities. The seeds of the spirit for protecting the rights of traditional communities are inherent in the theory of natural rights.[4] Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights gives right to every human being to take part freely in the cultural rites of the community to which he belongs and to enjoy its arts and share the scientific developments and its benefits. The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, 1966 gives recognition to the inherent dignity and equal and non- transferrable rights of all human beings. The legal systems of the Northern Territory or the Commonwealth of Australia may be recommended to implement the following model in order to recognize the Aboriginal law into the Australian legal system[5]. These recommendations will provide freedom of traditional and cultural rights of the people of Indigenous community as customary law being a part of tradition should be respected and recognized as a moral commitment of the society. The government may introduce statutory provisions and guidelines that would enable governmental agencies and courts to consider the Aboriginal law in the exercise of their discretions as per the requirement of their circumstances. Further the Aboriginal people may be encouraged to participate in the decision making process relating matters connected to their lives. The government should develop law and justice plans that recognize the aboriginal customary law to deal with issues related to the community and enhance the implementation of the Australian law within the community. The government should adopt policies that would ensure that the general law of the Northern territory administers justice in respect of matters dealing with the rights and obligations of the Aboriginal people under the traditional law. Efforts should be made for learning the customary laws so that justice can be attained in cases involving matters related to people of Aboriginal community. The Aboriginal customary law of Australia has its own importance and people of Australia should be full of pride about that fact. The Aboriginal people have different customs than the non-Aboriginals but they fall under the same common law system. The only reason behind the suppression of the customary laws is the non-acceptance and of not showing mutual respect and mutual understanding of different customs. The statutes and the precedents do not confirm with the customary laws. The conflicts arise because they do not want to understand each other. Measures need to be taken to remove the ambiguity between the two different laws which come from different backgrounds and not by ignoring each other.[6] Further the courts should have the obligation to consider certain issues, viz., the background of the accused and the nature of the offence while deciding the punishment. This also includes giving regard to the Indigenous customary law in cases involving Indigenous offenders. Conflicts arise when Indigenous offenders commit certain acts that are permissible under customary laws, but prohibited under the common law. Like in the case of Hales v Jamilmira[7] where the offender, an Indigenous male, was convicted for committing unlawful sexual intercourse with a 15 year old girl. He argued that he was acting under the Indigenous customary law. The judges confirmed the illegality of the act of the offender under common law. In Walker v The State of New South Wales, [8] the High Court of Australia was of the view that even if an assumption is made that the customary criminal law of the people of Aboriginal community survived British settlement, it was abolished by the passage of criminal legislations which were for the general application. From the observation and analysis made above it can be concluded that the historical relationship existing between people of Indigenous community and the common law system of Australia, the people of Indigenous community lack access to redressal of their issues. The continuous discrimination in access to right to approach courts has placed the people of Indigenous community as people of second class not having equal civil and political rights. This has long-term consequences, which may be seen in a lack of familiarity, of access or trust in legal remedies to their problems. Reference List: Altman, Jon, and Sue Jackson. Claude And The Classical Dream Essays - Solomon,
Claude And The Classical Dream In Kathleen Nicholson's book, Turner's Classical Landscapes, is an interpretation of Turner's concepts and ability of landscape painting in contrast to Claude. In particular, chapter six, Nicholson discusses Turner's artistic career and how it models Claudean classical landscape. Nicholson conveys her opinion on how Turner re-created Claude's a realm to maintain a balance between homage and revision, between landscape as a tradition and landscape as a modern form of expression. Kathleen Nicholson, in this chapter, takes the reader through many aspects of Turner's re-creation of Claude's classical landscape into his own modern form. Turner understood Claude's qualities as an artist. He clearly knew the extent to which Claude's art came from, with extensive study of nature, part by part, and a realization that informed his own process of idealization. Nicholson states, Allow he showed proper respect to Poussin, his heart went out to Claude (222) because Turner saw Claude's work as the realm of the classical landscape. Many other artists, such as Constable, looked at Claude's works for inspiration in aspects ranging from the design of rivers to the finish. Other artists continuously copied Claude's landscape paintings as a basis for representation of their own landscape. Turner instilled Claude's work into two compositional formats, a seaport and an inland setting, which he would personalize and update while at the same time leaving no doubt about their source. However, at the beginning of Turner's career, he believed that Claude's work was beyond the power of imitation. At first, he followed Poussin's order and rationality in his 1800 and 1802 Plague pictures. Poussin may have seemed more comprehensible to Turner before being exposed to more of Claude's paintings. After a visit to the Lourve, Turner's paintings appeared more and more like Claude's, especially in the Thames River paintings, where Turner used an air of eternal beauty to counterbalance the changeable effects of English weather. Nicholson finds Turner's sketchbook as the example of how Turner's idealization derives from the kind of exchange between the natural and the imaginary. She states, His projection of a harmoniously arranged natural environment never subjects to the ravages of time imparted an elegance and breadth to his observation of the real world (223). Nicholson finds his sketchbook to be a journey that embarks through imagination and the sensual. The first pages of the book depict a little ship ready for departure. Nicholson notes that in comparison of Claude's Seaport with the Embarkation of the Queen of Sheba, where Claude seems to beckon one to sail away, Turner elaborates on the ornate design of the classical seaport. Turner appeals more to the enclosed and to what is present to us. Turner's work progressed and finally reached Reynolds's fairyland where myth fully inhabits the landscape in his painting, Mercury and Herse. He begun this painting with the classical forms and qualities of Claude and proceeded to incorporate the myth into the landscape. Turner was crating both story and landscape. Virgil Quotations With English Translations
Virgil Quotations With English Translations Publius Vergilius Maro (October 15, 70 BCE - September 21, 19 BCE) was the leading poet of the Augustan era. His Aeneid glorified Rome and especially the ancestry of the first Roman emperor, Augustus (Octavian). The influence of Virgil (Vergil) on subsequent writers has been immense. He is responsible for sayings or the sentiments behind sayings that we still use, like Beware of Greeks bearing gifts, from Book II of the Aeneid. All Virgil quotations listed here include a reference to their original location, the Latin that Virgil wrote, and either an old, almost archaic translation from the public domain (mainly for the longer passages) or my own translation. [Lat., Experto credite.]Believe in the one who knows from experience. (Trust the expert.)- The Aeneid (XI.283)[Lat., Non ignara mali, miseris succurrere disco]Not being ignorant of bad things, I learn to help the wretched.- The Aeneid (I.630)[Lat., Superanda omnis fortuna ferendo est.]Every fortune is to be conquered by bearing (it).- The Aeneid (V. 710)[Lat., Quisque suos patimur manes.]We each allow our own ghosts. Men should not be allowed to have more than one wife Essay
Men should not be allowed to have more than one wife - Essay Example Normal relationships are not much serious many people whereas husband and wife relationships are serious to everyone. Genetically, every men and women have some inherited traits of possessiveness. They wanted to keep serious things as their own even though they are ready to share other things. Family life is a serious thing which nobody likes to share with others. ââ¬Å"No polygamous society has ever been a true liberal democracy, in anything like the modern sense. As societies move away from hierarchy and toward equal opportunity, they leave polygamy behind. They monogamize as they modernizeâ⬠(Rauch, 2006). It is impossible for a society to progress towards prosperity if it allows the males to have multiple partners. It should be noted that individuals constitute family and family constitutes society. Therefore strong bondage between the individuals and family members is necessary for a society to progress in the right direction. Multiple partners never allow men to share their love equally to all. Wives who get more love from the husband may become more loyal whereas neglected ones may look for relationships outside their marriage. Thus social problems may develop. Value of family life rests in the covenant between the husband and wife. Mutual trust between the husbands and wives is necessary to uphold the sanctity of family life. Family life is much more than sexual life. ââ¬Å"In cultures that permit men to take multiple wives, the intra-sexual competition that occurs causes greater levels of crime, violence, poverty and gender inequality than in societies that institutionalize and practice monogamous marriageâ⬠(Monogamy reduces major social problems of polygamist cultures, 2012). Many people argue that sex related violence can be reduced considerably if men allow to have more than one wife. In their opinion, illegal relationships are the major cause of domestic violence and such relationships can be eliminated if men allow to

Rhetorical Analysis Paper - Final Draft Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Rhetorical Analysis Paper - Final Draft - Essay Example es people that one of the primary steps they can take so as to start taking control of their debts include learning to bring their interest rates down, seeking help through credit counselors as well as protecting the interest rates they have brought down. Suze believes that people can only get out of the rat race by adopting her strategies, which she claims that they outmaneuver credit card companies and assure credit card users that they pay the lowest possible interest rate, for the shortest possible time, while avoiding all of the many snares and traps the card companies lay out for them. In this publication, Suze used numerous rhetorical strategies to achieve the task of appealing to the readers from a logical standpoint and to create a powerful tone that would back up her ideas and opinions. As a matter of fact, this is one of the aspects that made Suze become such a popular financial advisor not only in the USA, but also in other parts of the world. Currently her show on CNBC is watched in various parts of the world and her books have made some of the highest sales ever. As a result of using highly appealing rhetorical strategies, Suzeââ¬â¢s financial advice has effectively been passed not only to the American Middle class, but also to the whole generation both young and aged and from all spheres of the world. This paper is going to analyze Suzeââ¬â¢s publication rhetorically and quote the prime examples of rhetorical strategies used. Suze rhetorical strategies are evident from the introduction of the column whereby she introduces herself as multi-racial. She presents her originality in a humorous way by saying that her father tells her that she is an American Native, Afro-American as well as a Caucasian American. She does not like to associate herself with any race, a factor that helps her to sell her ideas to people of all origins. She wants to be referred to as an American, a title she appears to be very proud of very much. She says ââ¬Å"I really would rather

How To Properly Write A Resume English Language Essay
How To Properly Write A Resume English Language Essay After the covering letter, we now come to the second important part of the letter of application i.e. Personal Data Sheet. In the United States, the Personal Data Sheet is referred to as Resume and in Europe, it is called C.V. i.e. Curriculum Vitae meaning Course of Life. Both the resume and the C.V. are similar in structure and content. We shall use the word resume in this chapter. A resume is a factual as well as a persuasive summary of a persons education, employment background, job qualifications and other relevant personal details. It is a structured, written document. All the job advertisements ask for the resume of the applicant. Even if it is a walk-in interview, the candidate is expected to carry his resume along with other related documents for the purpose of verification. So the first thing that a job aspirant has to do as he begins looking for a job is to prepare his resume. It may be prepared before drafting the covering letter. Having a resume shows that you are aware of your skills and potential, that you are well-organised and well-prepared for your job search. A resume is a form of advertising. The purpose of a resume is to kindle employer interest and generate an interview. For an advertised job opening, there would be hundreds of other job seekers with whom you would have to compete for the same position. Therefore, your resume probably has less than 30 seconds to make an impression. So you must take great care while drafting your resume. If required, write several rough drafts before writing the final draft. This will help you to make your resume attractive, comprehensive and compact. Ideally, your resume should not be more than one page. But if you have a long list of academic achievements, or if you have worked at several places and handled many different job profiles, then you may have to prepare a somewhat longer resume. You should select an appropriate resume format using which you can clearly specify all the important information in a visually appealing manner thus making it easier and interesting for the reader to grasp and verify the facts. Keep the following points in mind while writing your resume- The appearance of your resume is very crucial. A resume that is too long, too packed with information, typed in poor layout and sloppy font, or having even a single spelling or grammatical error will often be rejected without being read. The first impression of you that gets formed in the mind of your prospective employer is based not on the content but on the appearance of your resume. Therefore, your resume should look sharp. The layout should make the information easy to grasp. For an impressive resume- Your resume should emphasize your strongest, most impressive qualifications and achievements. It should convey the desired impression by focusing on your strengths, but you must take care not to distort the facts. Avoid exaggeration. Do not claim skills you dont have. However, make sure that you downplay your weaknesses at the same time. Once you have analysed your skills and you know what you have to sell, then you can shape the elements of your resume accordingly, make it more personalized and thus effective. The bare essentials of a resume are as under: Heading A resume heading must show at a glance who you are, how you can be contacted and what kind of job you are seeking. Do not use the word Resume as the title. Most resume headings often consist of- name, address, phone number and email id center-aligned at the top of the page. But if you have a specific job in mind, use a heading which indicates that. But once you have worked in your selected field for a year or more, then education is usually given less emphasis in a resume. So if work experience is your strongest qualification, then you should mention the section on employment history first and place a greater emphasis on your accomplishments and you should provide less detail about your academic credentials. Work Experience This section should list all relevant work experience. The details you provide here help the employer/s to evaluate whether you have the necessary qualifications and decide if you are competent enough for the job. Therefore, your description of your work experience should highlight the relationship between your previous jobs and the position you are seeking. Lay a special emphasis on the skills you have developed while handling those responsibilities. If you achieved something significant while performing your job duties, then you must mention it. Example: Devised a new procedure in marketing research which accelerated the process of data collection and analysis List your jobs in reverse chronological order. If you are already employed at the time of applying for a new job, then mention joining date and use the phrase to present to indicate the period of employment with the current employer. The section on work experience should include the following details: You may also include volunteer work, internships, student teaching, research projects, summer and part-time jobs, etc. even if these jobs have no direct relation to your present career objective. These would show that you have the ability to get a job in the first place and to adapt to different work environments. Most employers find this quality quite impressive. However, devote more space to the jobs that relate to your target position. Relevant Skills In this section, you should describe other miscellaneous facts that relate to your career objective like languages that you are proficient in, your knowledge about computers, other related technical skills, etc. You can include a special section titled Language Skills or Computer Skills and place it near your Education or Work Experience sections. Activities and Achievements In this section, describe any volunteer activities that you participated in and that demonstrate your abilities or work-related skills like leadership, teamwork, communication skills, etc. You may group your activities and/or achievements under different headings like College Activities, Community Service, Professional Associations, Seminars and Workshops, Achievements, Awards, and Honours, etc. Personal Data This section helps present you as a well-rounded personality and enables the employer to know you as a person. The details that you mention here can be used to initiate conversation during an interview. Thus, list job-related interests and hobbies, esp. those indicating stamina, strength, sociability, etc., that can help you gain an edge over your competitors. Mention your hobbies, travel experiences, or personal characteristics, particularly if they suggest qualities that relate to your career goals. Remember, your personal details should be listed briefly and modestly. You should omit or downplay references to age if it could suggest inexperience or approaching retirement. You must exclude any detail that could lead to discrimination like references to gender, marital status, religion, or nationality. References Employers often ask for academic transcripts, samples of your work, or letters of recommendation prior to or after an interview. Be ready to provide these documents as they increase your chances of getting the job. Many potential employers prefer to have actual references on the resume whom they can contact in order to verify the details that you have provided or to get more information about you as a person/an employee. Provide minimum two and maximum four references. Mention their details either at the end of your resume or prepare a separate sheet for References. Or you may insert a line at the end of your resume offering to supply the names of references on request. Example: References available on request While drafting the list of references, keep the following points in mind- Supply names of academic, employment, and professional associates- but no relatives. Provide a name, a title, an address, and a telephone number and email address for each reference. List no name as a reference unless you have that persons permission to do so. Exclude your present employer if you do not want the firm to know you are seeking another position, or add Resume submitted in confidence at the top or bottom of the resume. TYPES OF RESUME LAYOUTS As a job seeker, you will find that you have many different resume layouts available from which to select the best organizational plan that would help you to focus attention on your strong points. The layout you choose must accentuate the information that directly concerns your career objective and should play down or exclude any details that are irrelevant or that may harm your prospect instead of helping you to achieve your aim. The different resume styles include the Basic Resume, the Chronological Resume, the Functional Resume, the Targeted Resume, and the Creative Resume. The right choice of the resume layout will depend on which aspect of your qualifications you want to highlight and your career goal(s). The Basic Resume It is ideal for those without any work experience. It contains the basic information- contact details, education, activities, skills, interests, summer/part-time jobs, etc. The main focus is on education and training. The Chronological Resume The chronological approach is the most traditional and most common way of organizing a resume and it is preferred by many recruiters. It is best suited for those who have lots of career-related experience. The chronological resume lists a persons education and employment history in reverse chronological order, starting with and giving more space to the most recent positions. Under each listing, you should describe the responsibilities and accomplishments associated with each job or academic experience. In the chronological plan, the Work Experience section dominates the resume and is placed immediately after the name and address and the objective. The chronological resume has following characteristics: It highlights the applicants impressive career progress. The applicant emphasizes his achievements by using an indented list. The applicants special qualifications are presented as Personal Data. The chronological resume is used when the applicant wants to continue along the established career path and his career graph shows a positive, upward movement i.e. it is marked by achievements and consistent progress. It is similar to the Basic Resume, but also includes Related Experience, Additional Experience, Activities, Affiliations, Skills (Languages and Computer), Interests, etc. It is not advisable to use the chronological layout when- You are applying for your first job. You have changed jobs frequently. You plan to change your field of work. You are searching for a job after some gap. The Functional Resume In a functional resume, the primary focus is on your skills and accomplishments. Education and experience are mentioned in subordinate sections. This format is effective for people who are entering the job market or re-entering after a considerable gap. It emphasizes capabilities, skill levels, and accomplishments rather than job titles or time spent at various jobs. This plan is best suited for those who want to work in different fields, or those who have not achieved much success in past, or those who have done several unrelated jobs, or those who have been working freelance or part-time. A functional resume has following characteristics: The applicant describes experience first. The use of action verbs and specific facts enhances this resumes effectiveness. The applicants sketchy work history is described but not emphasized. The Targeted Resume This kind of organizational plan shows how you qualify for a specific job i.e. what you can do for a particular employer in a particular position. It is best suited for those who have a clear idea of what they want to do and who can demonstrate their ability in the targeted area. List related capabilities and achievements which provide evidence of your capabilities immediately after stating your career objective. List your work experience and education in subordinate sections. The Creative Resume It is used when applying for creative positions in advertising or entertainment. You can demonstrate your creativity by using elaborate sentence structure, attractive layout, decoration, colour, method of folding, or drastically different writing. It is best suited for people who have an artistic and imaginative temperament. ESSENTIAL FEATURES OF A GOOD RESUME No matter which layout you choose for your resume, you can write an effective resume only if you keep in mind your target audience (i.e. the prospective employer) and the specific job requirements. A good resume should have the following characteristics: Your resume should not be too lengthy. It should be concise and relevant. One-page long is ideal. It should not be sketchy. It should contain all necessary information required for a proper evaluation of the applicant. Your career goals and job preferences should be apparent from the career objective that you state at the very outset of your resume. Your resume should be visually appealing. Leave proper margins and enough white space. Use proper indentions and underlining. Use good quality paper and print. Your resume should be legible. The language you use should be simple and easy to understand. Use sentences beginning with action words instead of writing in long, convoluted sentences. Verbose and flashy resumes are ineffective and are often rejected even before being read. Be careful with grammar. A resume that is replete with spelling and grammatical errors will create a bad impression and the reader will conclude that the applicant does not possess good verbal/language skills. Remember, having good communication skills is an important qualification by itself. Your resume should present a realistic picture of your skills and achievements. It should not come across as too professional or polished, else it will appear superficial. Give factual evidence in support of your claims with regard to your academic and professional credentials. Do not be boastful. Be sincere. Do not include wrong or baseless information in your resume as it would expose your amateurism and reveal your poor understanding of the business world or of the particular industry.

Family Story Essay
Jayla had a difficult childhood that kept her busy. She was an African American girl living with a working class family. She had problems with her family which even increased when her parents refused to buy her vegetarian meals. She just didnââ¬â¢t like the taste of meat. She had a child at 16 and was forced to raise the child on her own. It was an untimely pregnancy like 88% of teen births in the US. When she was 14, she thought she had found the love of her life in a classmate of hers named Jaylin. She thought that he would help he forget about the troubled relationship with her parents which she had formerly tried by using alcohol. These risk factors increased the chance that she would get engaged in early sex. The relationship was not as great as she had thought. It showed the exchange theory when her boyfriend paid less costs in the relationship and got more rewards which was the opposite for Jayla. This caused her to have dependency issues with him. One of the rewards for Jaylin was sex. Jayla had sex because of a threat to end the relationship because she grew so attached to him that she would rather have sex than have him leave her. They only used barriers like condoms to protect her against pregnancy. She didnââ¬â¢t have as much of a problem with having it after a while because she was told by her parents if she was going to have sex to use protection which is common for most parents. Their attitudes demonstrated the permissiveness with affection category of Ira Reissââ¬â¢ four categories. In August Jaya gave birth to her daughter who she named Rain because the rain was the only thing that seemed to calm her down after a long fight with her parents. This made Rain a part of the 39. % of unmarried births in the US. After Rain was born, it didnââ¬â¢t get much easier for Jayla. Her mother had forced her to take care of the child on her own without any help from other family. She was forced to drop out of high school to take care of Rain. Shortly after giving birth, Jaylin left because he said it was too much work for him to be a father. This left Jayla devastated and made her one of the 9. 9 million single mothers in the US. She faced responsibility overload trying to have enough money to pay for Rainââ¬â¢s needs as a child. She also had to contend with emotional overload because she didnââ¬â¢t have enough time to focus on her own needs. She dealt with task overload because she had to do the work of two parents almost by herself. She started going to church with Rain which is where she lost her dependency issues and it helped her refrain from sexual activity. This also made her mind more expressive which is the norm for females. Aidenââ¬â¢s childhood was also troubled. He was an only child who lived with a fairly wealthy family. His parents focused more on their work than they did on him. Also the family was moving constantly from place to place because of his fatherââ¬â¢s job. Aiden never had enough time to make close friendships with people because of this frequent moving around. Both of these factors caused him to develop emotional loneliness which is fewer intimate relationships than desired. This loneliness made him focus on people and their reactions which interested him. His mind mainly focused on logic and reasoning which is the average for males. When he went to college he started his studies in sociology to continue his interest in the interactions between people. This loneliness went away during college when he started going to church and interacted with fellow Christians. This church was where he met Jayla. When Jayla and Aiden met, they both could feel a connection between them. It helped their growing relationship that they were both androgynous which means they take on both feminine and masculine traits. This is because it increased their intimacy with more love, affection, and attachment to one another. They got married two and a half years after they started dating. This early marriage is quite rare nowadays. Their gender roles in the family skewed some from traditional views. Both of them helped raised the children, worked for a living, and took care of the trailer. The fact that both of the parents worked made it unlike a monolithic family. Jayla wanted to extend the family early because she wanted to have children while she had healthy eggs and have more energy to keep up with them. Her fertility was better because she was a vegetarian so it increased by eating proteins from plants and not animals. Eleven months after they were married Jayla gave birth to her second child, a baby boy named Kyle. Their relationship didnââ¬â¢t come without its share of problems. A while into their relationship they noticed people border patrolling against them. People were treating them like they were abnormal just because they were an interracial couple. Their relationship seemed even more abnormal because it was a white man with a black woman. Later on, Aiden was arrested for assault on Jaylaââ¬â¢s supervisor for sexually harassing her. Her supervisor was not charged with anything because harassment is in the eye of the beholder and co-workers saw no harm in what the supervisor was doing. They just believed that Aiden was overreacting. Even worse, he lost his job as a researcher at a local university because of that. Fortunately, Jayla had completed her GED a month before this happened and was starting a full-time job to replace her part-time one. While Aiden was looking for a job, the systems theory started showing in the family. The family could not go eat out as much, everyone had to eat less expensive food, be careful how many resources they used, and buy fewer luxuries. Early in their marriage while Kyle was still very young Jayla and Aiden had intimacy problems because they forgot that they were partners before they were parents. (Pierce) They had gotten so caught up in taking care of their children that they lost sight of their own relationship with one another. They overcame this obstacle after a while. Despite their problems, Jayla and Aiden grew even closer together. They lived in what Levinger described as a full-shell marriage that was fulfilling and strong. They showed the symbolic interaction theory by being able to interpret each otherââ¬â¢s verbal and non-verbal symbols to one another. For example, they knew when each other was ââ¬Å"in the moodâ⬠by Aiden wanting to go to bed early and Jayla twisting her hair around her finger and constantly looking at Aiden with a smile. They would have the occasional argument, but it never became anything serious. Their arguments were never seen as a problem because it is a myth that a happily married couple doesnââ¬â¢t have conflict. They indulged in what they didnââ¬â¢t have in common as much as what they had in common. They were both surprised by how different their dreams were. Aidenââ¬â¢s dreams were more like action films while Jaylaââ¬â¢s focused more on love and family. It made for very interesting conversations in their day-to-day lives. Raising children and getting older posed some adventures of its own. Both children were raised in the normal behaviors for their sex. Rain was given dolls to play with including baby dolls allowed her to pretend to be a mother. Kyle, on the other hand, was encouraged to play outside and his scrapes and bruises were not treated like a big deal which toughened him up. Conflict from within the family expanded with grandchildren because, as Durkheim says, it had become more heterogeneous. The family became more of a group of diverse individuals. Jayla was disappointed that Rain had a child before getting married which is a risk factor for a child born to a teen mother. Jayla was relieved that the father stayed with her and eventually married her. As they got even older, Aiden had to start using Viagra because his refractory period was getting to be too long that he could not have sex with Jayla as frequently as they both wanted. Though they both had their share of problems, they had a very long and successful marriage. Both of them lived well into their eighties, happy and in love.

Do you think that religion is as important today as it was in the past?
Religion involves the relationship between mankind and what is regarded as sacred. Religion almost always includes the belief in the supernatural and a code of ethical behavior. Why do men suffer? What is the nature of the Universe and How it is governed? What is the nature of man and what is his destiny? Religion tries to answer the questions of ultimate existence and of life and death and human and destiny. Many religions hold the universe is governed by God. ââ¬Å"Through religion man may see meaning in the universe and find a personal role in itâ⬠(Berger 50).Thousands of years ago, religion played a very vital role in the lives of the people. Even though that time, things were not that complicated. People still has a closer connection to God. People then put a greater emphasis on going to church, fellowshipping with their brotherââ¬â¢s and sisterââ¬â¢s in the Lord and in maintaining their relationship with their creator. As of now, in our present times I think that Re ligion is ten times important than it was before. As the modern world is evolving and is now being introduced to different kinds of beliefs and theories that could likely shake our foundation of faith for God. The basis and the only foundation of our faith is Jesus Christ. We must hold on to him more especially these days that there are many deceivers out there that are being used by the enemy to destroy us and to keep us away from the loving arms of God. When we donââ¬â¢t have a strong foundation of our relationship to God, we can easily yield to the temptations and offerings that Satan will present to us, like the technology of today. If we donââ¬â¢t know how to control the usage of technology of today, we can be manipulated and controlled by it. That is just one of the tactics of Satan to let us fall into the pit he is preparing for us, for us to be kept away from Godââ¬â¢s destiny for us.Today, there are many existing religions. There are the Protestants, Orthodox and t he Roman Catholics. Like in the past, there was a Counter Reformation that happened. Which was also described as ââ¬Å"the Catholic Reformation and in this period of the Reformations, it included a series of wars that ended in 1648â⬠(Berger 53).The Reformation seemed primarily a religious upheaval; it was also a complex social and political movement. A revolt against the religion and the way of life. It was a part of the transition from medieval to modern times. The revolt accompanied a change in the political, economic, intellectual, and ecclesiastical traditions of the medieval age of faith. The results touched every aspect of human life. The Counter Reformation was a struggle against Protestantism; it was a movement for the spiritual and moral reform within the Catholic Church. ââ¬Å"The wars that accompanied the Reformation were basically political, but they were closely bound up with the religious issuesâ⬠(Berger 53). That time, there was a great competition betwee n the Protestants and the Catholics. The struggle dragged on because the stronger could not conquer and the weaker would not compromise. It was said that ââ¬Å"the Western Church was split between Catholics and Protestants. By the latter part, the dividing lines had hardened, during the following centuries they changed very little. The protestant split into several groups, and later they subdivided again and againâ⬠(Berger 54).The Reformation was a historical event of great significance. It became a part of a larger movement that led to the development of independent nations and modern democracy. In this present time, Reformation still exists in such a way that there are still many existing religions now. There are still issues regarding Catholicism and its doctrines. There are still political movements that are being influenced by the religious sects. There still existing competitions between religions now, in which they compete if what religion will really help people reach h eaven, let their prayers be heard by God and be with their Creator. There are still a number of religious issues being tackled by now. The issues that keeps affecting the different aspects of human life. Different religions keep on competing for them to invite individuals to come and join with them. Sometimes because of these, the essence of having a religion is lost. The real perspective of establishing a deeper relationship with God is lost because of the overwhelming issues that could bother the spiritual and emotional aspect of a person.ââ¬Å"The real role of having a religion is to develop a deeper and serious relationship with our Almighty Creatorâ⬠(Berger 54). God does not base our salvation on what religious denomination we join to. He looks at the position of our hearts and of we really love Him and long to be with Him sincerely. He does not base his judgment on the things we do and achieve. It is our hearts that He looks up to.à Whatever we have, whatever we do and whatever group we are simply does not matter to God at all. He just wants us to love Him above all, above all the things that this world offers to us, and also for us to not yield to the wiles of the enemy. We should guard the health of our body, soul and Spirit. For we human are described as ââ¬Å"fragile and weakâ⬠(Berger 67). We should be clean spiritually so as not to hurt God and for us to be a blessing to other individuals in this world, that wherever we are and whatever we do; we do all those things for the glorification of His name.Reference: Berger, Gilda. Sexual Exploitation Of Female Slaves During The American...
Sexual Exploitation of Female Slaves in the American South ââ¬Å"He told me that I was made for his use, made to obey his command in every thing; that I was nothing but a slave, whose will must and should surrender to hisâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ The treatment of slaves varied in their personal experiences as well as in the experiences of others they knew, but Harriet Jacobs phenomenally described the dynamics of the relationship between many female slaves and their superiors with these words from her personal narrative, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl (1861). Before slavery was outlawed it was not uncommon for young female slaves to be sexually abused and exploited by their masters. Although many people know about the cruelty of the sexual assaults that made too many young girls victims of rape in the Antebellum South, most people are unaware of the complexity of the issue and how many different ways these women were abused. The power and authority given to overseers on plantations in the Antebellum South often led to a misuse of power, partic ularly in regards to enslaved young women. Overseers were slaves chosen by the master to control the fields on bigger plantations to keep the slaves in line and on task. However, sometimes this power led to abuse. An unnamed slave told of a young girl he knew who caught the eye of one of the overseers on the plantation she worked on. Her mother told her to stay away from him because she knew what he would do to her if she did not.
